The American College of Surgeons (番茄社区app) SurgeonsVoice Advocate of the Year recognition program tracks how engaged surgeon advocates utilize tools and take action via聽SurgeonsVoice聽online. Top advocates establish and maintain relationships with legislators, helping to advance health policy priorities.
The Advocate of the Year will be recognized during the annual Clinical Congress, featured in the聽Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons, and invited to participate in other advocacy-related activities.
To be eligible for recognition, you can:
Attend the annual Advocacy Summit
Serve on an 番茄社区app committee
Attend in-district meetings
Host a site visit/facility tour/training
Present on the value of 番茄社区app advocacy efforts

Congratulations to the 2024 SurgeonsVoice Advocate of the Year, Don J. Selzer, MD, F番茄社区app, of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Selzer currently serves as the Willis D. Gatch Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Division of General Surgery and Associate Chair of the Department of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine.
The prestigious honor was awarded during the Annual Business Meeting of Members at the 2024 Clinical Congress in San Francisco, CA, recognizing his strong commitment to advancing and supporting 番茄社区app advocacy activities and programs. Dr. Selzer has led by example serving as the Vice Chair of the 番茄社区app Coding and Reimbursement Committee, the Advocacy Pillar Lead of the 番茄社区app Board of Governors and previously chaired the 番茄社区app Legislative Committee.
Dr. Selzer recognizes the vital importance of educating and engaging with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., to drive change and ensure that the surgical community's voice is heard in Congress. This commitment makes him the ideal choice for this honor this year.

Congratulations to the 2023 SurgeonsVoice Advocate of the Year, Jason P. Wilson, MD, MBA, F番茄社区app, a board-certified breast and melanoma surgeon based in Clearwater, Florida.
The distinct honor was presented at the Annual Business Meeting of Members during Clinical Congress 2023. Dr. Wilson was selected for his unwavering commitment to the College鈥檚 advocacy and political efforts. He is active in the American College of Surgeons having been the Young Fellows Association Liaison to the General Surgery Coding and Reimbursement Committee, the YFA Governing Council Advocacy Workgroup Chair, and on the SurgeonsPAC Board. He is active within the FL Chapter as the current secretary, a Governor, and the State Chair of the Commission on Cancer.
Dr. Wilson is active within the Florida Medical Association serving on the Council on Legislation and the Florida Medical Association PAC Board Executive Council. He also serves as medical director of surgical practices for the West Region with BayCare Medical Group.
Dr. Wilson understands how critically important it is to continue to educate and engage with lawmakers in Washington DC to effect change and protect surgery鈥檚 voice in the halls of Congress. That is why this year there was no better choice than to select Dr. Wilson for this honor.

Dr. Armstrong was selected based on several criteria, including his unwavering commitment to the College鈥檚 advocacy and political efforts. He serves as a member of HPAC, an Advisory Member of the PAC Board, Legislative Committee Member, and Chair of the Committee on Trauma Advocacy Pillar.
